In a surprising move and kind of a head scratcher the Los Angeles Kings traded Peter Budaj, Erik Cernak, a 7th round pick in 2017 and a conditional pick in this year’s draft for Ben Bishop and a 5th round pick in 2017.
Everyone knew Bishop was going to be one of the odd men out in Tampa Bay because of the contracts that were offered out last summer to Stamkos, Hedman and Vasilevskiy. But no one thought he would be on the move to Los Angeles. Jonathan Quick who was out most of the year came back yesterday and played well and is considered one of the best goalies in the league. Though Quick came back this move is seen at least for now as a depth move and having a great backup to Quick. Another thing I would say too is that this move might be for cap space once the season is over and Bishop becomes a UFA.
King Lombardi is just building a greater wall for his team and we will see what happens at the end of the season with the Los Angeles Kings.
