Rick Renteria is back managing in the major leagues as he was named manager of the Chicago White Sox today by GM and King Rick Hahn. He becomes the only latino manager in the MLB.
He also joins some very interesting company being the 2nd person to manage both Chicago baseball teams. The other being Hall of Famer Johnny Evers.
King Rick was the bench coach for the Chicago White Sox this year but when former King Robin Ventura stepped down yesterday after the Sox ended their disappointing 2016 campaign it made room for Rick to be a manager again.
Rick Renteria is put into the same position he was in with the Cubs, as he is most likely going to be managing a team that will be in a rebuilding process. All indications point to a rebuild after the comments were made by Rick Hahn about the team being “mired in mediocrity” when interviewed by Chicago reporters during the cross town clash between the northside team and southside team.
Hopefully this time Rick doesn’t get thrown off his throne if another big name manager becomes available.
