King Stan Bowman does another deal with King Jim Nill as they agree on a deal that sends former Hawk, Johnny Oduya back to Chicago for Mark McNeill and a conditional draft pick in 2018.
Johnny Oduya is now back with the Hawks and obviously adds more depth to the back end and creates competition for the 5th and 6th spot. Before Oduya left via free agency he primarily played with Niklas Hjalmarsson. I’m not sure if this will be the case now but glad to have him back in the fold and this counters the Wild’s move to bring in Martin Hanzal and Ryan White.
If you are worried about giving up another prospect, McNeill just never panned out with the Hawks. He was Bowman’s first draft pick and never could crack the lineup and was passed up by many players both drafted and undrafted.
Love the move and can’t wait to get Hammer back to see if he will paired up with his old friend again.
