Since the March 1st NHL trade deadline is approaching there a lot of rumours that link the King Stan Bowman and the Hawks to many players. For example, players like Patrick Sharp, James van Riemsdyk, Gabriel Landeskog, Tomas Tatar and Michael Stone have all been mentioned in one story or another about being dealt to the Hawks.
I just want to throw my two cents in about what will be the right deal for this team and King Stan Bowman.
Since Brandon Saad was traded in 2015 it has been a hard time finding his replacement to play with Captain Toews. So for all the forwards listed up there, I believe Tomas Tatar would make the most sense. He is 26 and will be a RFA next year. He won’t cost the Hawks that much and if he wasn’t a fit King Stan can somehow trade his rights away to get a pick back.
Another deal that would be beneficial for the Hawks will be to get the right handed defenseman Michael Stone from Arizona. I really like this player, he reminds a little bit of Brent Seabrook and can play the point on the power play because he has the rare skill of getting the puck through and on net. He will also be a UFA after the season. So if it doesn’t work out you can just let him walk in free agency.
Though who am I? I’m not a GM but I do believe these moves will benefit the Hawks in the long run past this year.
